THE SAMPLING

sampling and transfer : the ultimate hazard zone

We provide you with a guide so that the analysis has every chance to be representative and valuable:

  • Sample collection is the most critical phase of an analysis, it generates most of the uncertainty of the result:
    • Collecting the right quantity, characteristic of the lot, of the parcel.
    • Collecting at the right spot (e.g. apple tree periphery versus inside, field edges versus center...).
  • The transfer of samples to the laboratory, as well as the first preparations that will be performed there, are also critical operations because they can :
    • destroy the residue by exposure to unsuitable conditions (T°C...) ;
    • pollute the sample with an unsuitable container (by transfer) ;
    • absorb the residue in a container
    • discriminate a part of the sample and thus a part of the analyzed residue.
  • This part of the study adds regulatory constraints related to the number of unit and the weight to insure a valid analysis.

How much weight, how many units ?

Samples are packaged :

  • with a unique reference, assigned to each sample, in a contactless packaging,
  • with double protection,
  • no plastics if looking for PAHs
  • fresh or frozen

Liquids (water, wine, juice)

Samples are packaged :

  • with a unique reference, assigned to each sample, in a contactless packaging,
  • with double protection, with PTFE seal
  • Avoiding plastics if multi-residue search,
  • avoiding glass if looking for glyphosate,
  • if sample is frozen, remember not to fill the glass bottles completely.
